GCC Reinforces Position as Leading Model of Arab Regional Integration, Says Arab Parliament Speaker

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) continues to strengthen its reputation as a leading model of Arab regional integration, reflecting the deep brotherly ties and shared destiny among Gulf nations.

On Monday, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi, Speaker of the Arab Parliament, congratulated GCC leaders on the council’s 45th anniversary, celebrated annually on May 25. He praised the organisation’s historic achievements, which have strengthened its role as a unique and successful model of regional cooperation across the Arab world.

Al Yamahi stated that the GCC has successfully reinforced security, stability and sustainable development, while achieving advanced coordination across political, economic, security and developmental sectors. These efforts continue to strengthen Gulf cooperation and support the interests of Gulf and Arab communities.

GCC Emerges as a Trusted International Partner

The Arab Parliament Speaker praised the strategic vision of GCC leaders, highlighting their contribution to maintaining the council’s unity and long-term progress.

He also recognised the GCC’s role in supporting major Arab causes, protecting Arab national security and promoting regional stability across the Middle East.

Al Yamahi reaffirmed the Arab Parliament’s commitment to expanding strategic cooperation with the GCC to support development, prosperity and stability throughout the Arab region.

Jasem Albudaiwi, Secretary-General of the GCC, stated that since its establishment on May 25, 1981, the organisation has served as a pioneering institution reflecting strong brotherly relations and shared regional goals.

Supported by GCC leadership, the council has achieved significant progress across political, economic, military and security sectors while strengthening its international position as a reliable global partner.

These achievements have helped promote sustainable development, regional stability and economic growth among Gulf nations.

GCC GDP and Economic Growth Continue to Expand

Recent reports show that GCC GDP reached $2.4 trillion, while contributions from non-oil sectors exceeded 78%, highlighting increasing economic diversification within Gulf economies.

Speaking on the 45th anniversary celebrations, Albudaiwi described the GCC as a symbol of unity, integration and cooperation among Gulf countries.

Despite geopolitical challenges and global uncertainties, he expressed confidence that the GCC will continue moving toward stronger integration, broader prosperity and long-term stability.

He emphasised that maintaining Gulf unity and strengthening cooperation remain essential for addressing future challenges while preserving decades of achievements.
